Mizusashi, water jar used in tea ceremony. Glazed earthenware, the exterior a gray-tinted white with dark cinnamon-brown brushed abstractions, the interior a plain continuation of the glaze and holding bird's egg flecks of brown. 6" (15 cm) high, 5-1/2" (13.75 cm) diamether on 3-1/4' (8.125 cm) base. From Kyoto, of uncertain origin. 19th Century.
